Sometimes it is challenging to make sense of things happening in life. There are many
happenings about our own life which we turn we turn deaf to because we are often caught in
the race of life. Sometimes, getting a different perspective brings on a shift. As for me, I am
not someone who is bothered by people’s judgement but this painting when observed for a
longer time makes me feel that I am under the scrutiny of their gaze but not all of the eyes are
criticizing me. It feels like even though things aren’t gloomy they are not necessarily the
opposite. The eyes present feels like people are observing and forming their opinions about me.
If drawn an analogy between the painting and life, I feel that the different colors signify
different emotions, the separation between them seems like the different situations we have in
our lives. Although, this whole picture could be our life there are different emotions we have
that depend on the situation and they necessarily don’t overlap.
It feels like the separation of colors and shapes is like there are different parts of life. There
are some parts that take up a larger portion in the picture, similarly in our lives we have some
commitments that take up most part of our life be it responsibilities, aspirations, learning,
struggles or confusion. We cannot lessen the importance of any even if we want to, because
every emotion, every part, every color is significant!
In the above picture, the eyes make me feel that they are observing me and some are
criticizing, some are being worried, some are having sympathy and some are judging me for
trying to do it all. The one particular eye, between the pink and purple color, is the one that is
keeping an eye on me without passing any judgment. Makes me feel like having someone with
me without any judgements, who is just observing my journey and that is the eye that I need to
focus on. I believe that all our paths are guided by god, at least I believe mine is, so if the god
above is watching he would have a similar gaze.
To sum up, I feel there are different situations in our lives which make us feel different
emotions of all sort, there are challenges in our life and there could be people around judging
us but still we need to believe in the power of self and focus on walking towards the chosen
goal of life despite people’s judgmental thoughts towards us.
It is hard for me to reflect on my actions and the feelings associated with daily life and the
give and take. This image helped me to peep in my inner world and have a look at it. Do you
feel the same problem? Try this out- look at this image or any object around you that catches
your eye, that you find relatable, that you feel drawn towards and write what comes to your
mind, let the feelings evoke and flow, and immerse yourself in this journey of self-reflection. I
am sure you will feel rejuvenated and will get a better clarity while navigating through your
life.
